The U.S. Department of Energy has developed a drilling program in California to drill a deep volcanic rock at a depth of 5 kilometers in order to use the heat of the earth’s crust. The plan puts the water that passes through the borehole directly into the molten rock and turns it into water vapor, which leads to the ground to drive the turbine to generate electricity. The National Research Institute of the United States, Sandia, has actually investigated 21 candidate boreholes in the country by the Ministry of Energy. He believes that the hot springs in Long Valley and Coso in northeastern California are the most promising.
