The IT we know has come to an end. This is actually not a new idea. Well-known expert Nicholas Carr published a well-known article in the Harvard Business Review magazine as early as 2003: “IT is no longer important,” the article threw out such a view. Karl’s point is as follows: IT has become a popular commodity, just like electricity. It is no longer a sustainable differentiation advantage (the last time you heard a company boast that you have a better year than your competition because you have “better electricity.”) And Carl believes that IT management has become increasingly diminished to become a simple
