It has been unclear whether the fluorescence is derived from the cancer cells themselves or the surrounding environment of the cells since the report of laser irradiation to find the autofluorescence of gastric cancer lesions. To elucidate the mechanism of fluorescence, flow cytometry was used to investigate the natural fluorescence of free gastric cancer cells and compared with non-cancerous gastric mucosal cells. 1. Materials and Methods Fresh non-cancerous gastric mucosa tissues, gastric cancer tissues or Gastric cancer with lymph node metastases was digested with collagenase, Nilon mesh was removed from the cell mass, and the natural fluorescence of the cells was measured with FACS III.
