程雨民教授是我国著名语言学家,毕生致力于中国的外语及语言学教学与研究,深研笃思,格物求真。早在二十世纪五十年代,程先生就翻译了美国结构主义学派的论文,发表了研究俄语动词的论著(《俄语动词命令式》、《俄语动词假定式》等)。七十年代末期,程先生发表了一系列论述英语语体的文章,其中《语体分析的一个尝试》在荷兰用英文发表,《英语中的屈折语体》获上海市高等学校哲学社会科学研究一九七六至一九八二年优秀论文奖。八十年代末以来,程先生主要研究语言与人类智能的相互关系,就“语言使用中的逻辑推理”、“语言符号的解释”、“直义句中的逻辑推理”等问题在国内外发表过十余篇论文。其《英语语体学》、《语言系统及其运作》、《汉语字基语法》、《“人本语义学”十论》等专著在我国语言学界有着广泛的影响。为了回顾程先生一生的学术道路和治学精神,我们特约胡壮麟教授撰写《谈程雨民先生语言研究的基本轨迹》一文,表达《当代外语研究》对程先生八十五寿辰的庆贺和纪念。
Professor Cheng Yu-min, a famous linguist in China, devoted his life to teaching and researching foreign languages and linguistics in China. As early as the 1950s, Mr. Cheng translated the thesis of the American structuralist school and published treaties on Russian verbs (“Russian verb imperative” and “Russian verb assumed”). In the late seventies, Cheng published a series of essays on the English language. Among them, “an attempt to analyze genres” was published in English in the Netherlands, and the “inflectional language in English” was awarded the title of “Philosophy Social Science Research Excellent Paper Award, 1976-1982. Since the late 1980s, Mr. Cheng has mainly studied the interrelationship between language and human intelligence, and has discussed ”the logical reasoning in language use“, ”the explanation of linguistic signs“, ”logical reasoning in straightforward sentences“ And other issues at home and abroad published more than 10 papers. His monographs such as ”English Stylistics“, ”Linguistic System and Its Operation“, ”Chinese Word-based Grammar“, ”Humanistic Semantics“ and ”Ten Theory“ have a wide range of influences in Chinese linguistics. In order to review the academic path and academic spirit of Cheng’s life, Professor Hu Zhuanglin wrote the article ”On the Basic Tracks of Language Studies of Mr. Cheng Yu-min" and expressed his congratulation and commemoration of Mr. Cheng’s 85th birthday in Contemporary Foreign Language Studies.
