酸雨致酸土壤的分布与污染源的分布密切相关。大型污染源如火力发电厂等影响范围可达数十km~2;土壤酸化过程缓慢,由中性至微酸性,大多要30年以上时间。小型强污染源如硫磺厂等影响区域约1km~2;土壤酸化速度快,几年即可显著致酸。酸雨致酸土壤有明显的作物反应,钙质土无酸化迹象,对作物生长有益;酸性土的酸化明显,对作物危害大;中性土酸化幅度大,在作物上的反应为宜种度下降与病虫害滋生。
