傣族佛寺壁画,是南传上座部佛教文化重要载体,它是沟通人与佛、已知与未知、现实与未来的宗教文化桥梁,也是南传佛教在本民族地区本土化的文化符号之一,其中包含了民族传统的绘画技法,宗教哲学、风俗习惯、道德伦理观等内容,是一个民族外在的文化符号,也是形成民族内聚力的途径之一,长期以来影响傣族政治、文化、经济、社会的重要意识形态因素。因此,对傣族佛寺壁画的研究不仅是对傣族民族文化的传承,同时对引导民族文化自觉,弘扬傣族文化都具有促进作用。所以对傣族佛寺壁画的研究具有重要的意义。在对西双版傣族佛寺壁画的深入研究之前,对西双版纳傣族佛寺壁画的文化生态环境的研究就显得分外重要。本文从西双版纳傣族佛寺壁画的自然环境,文化传统环境和宗教文化环境对其进行阐述。
