平湖市新埭镇牌楼村农家妇女潘小妹勤学大棚西甜瓜栽培技术,自1999年种植大棚西甜瓜以来,面积不断扩大,收入逐年增加。2001年,她家28亩大棚西甜瓜收益11万元,获利5万多元。2001年石桥村农家妇女刘秀龙饲养出栏肉猪2000头,并闯荡市场,帮助本地农家妇女营销肉猪4000多头,共创产值500多万元,获利10万元,被评为平湖市十佳致富女状元和嘉兴市优秀女营销员。像潘小妹、刘秀龙这样的农村妇女在新埭镇有1000多名。她们通过参加文化科技培训,掌握了一至两门实用技术,大力发展种养业,成了农村科技致富的领头雁。
