No matter what kind of product, after heat treatment will have some problems only the product. Gear is no exception. This article addresses some of the many common problems encountered in gear heat treatment and discusses the possible causes and solutions. Changes in size and control of gear size changes, sometimes referred to as deformation, is the inevitable result of heat treatment, often showing some degree. It is important to suppress or control the amount of deformation to an acceptable level. Deformation in gear heat treatment can be caused by a variety of causes, one of which is the lack of adequate stabilization of the microstructure of the gear blank during normalizing or annealing before machining.
