Coca-Cola announced that its earnings per share for the second quarter of 1996 rose 20% from $0.35 to $0.42, and global sales continued to grow strongly. China is the market with the highest sales growth in the Middle East and Far East Group. Middle East and Far East Group’s second-quarter sales increased by 9%, and in the second quarter of 1995, they increased by 11%. Sales in the Chinese market surged by 26%; sales in the Japanese market increased by 11%; and the Australian market increased by 12%. The Middle East and Far East Group’s shipments in the second quarter increased by 12%; sales and shipments in the first six months of this year increased by 11% and 9% respectively.
