High-level synthesis of digital systems refers to the conversion from abstract behavioral characterization to register transfer-level structure description. It is a practical and effective method of digital system design. This article describes the presentation of digital systems and outlines the main tasks of high-level synthesis, the development and current status of high-level synthesis techniques, and some of the problems that exist.
