根据哺乳动物化石资料,欧洲下维拉方组的动物群基本上相当于我国绿泥河湾(绿三门)组的动物群。我国黄泥河湾(黄三门)组动物群可与欧洲中、上维拉方组者对比。下维拉方组的年代为3.0—3.5百万年,属晚上新世,可以考虑我国绿泥河湾(绿三门)组的时代也属晚上新世。古地磁测定结果表明绿泥河湾(绿三门)组与黄泥河湾(黄三门)组接触带为松山反极性世与高斯正极性世的交界处。可以认为上新世与更新世的界限与此接触带一致,年代为2.48百万年。第四系下限不一定是黄土的下限,根据目前为止的资料,黄土的开始比第四系的开始要晚些。
According to mammalian fossil data, the fauna in the lower Villars group in Europe is basically equivalent to the fauna in the group of the Green River Mud (Green Sanmen) in China. China Yellow River Bay (Huang Sanmen) group of animals with Europe, on the Villa side comparison. The age of the Lower Vera Formation is 3.0-3.5 million years, belonging to the Late Pliocene. It can be considered that the epoch of the Green Mud River Bay (Green-Sanmen) Formation in China is also Late Pliocene. Paleomagnetism measurements show that the contact zone between the Green Ngam (Luosanmen) Formation and the Huangnihe Bay (Huangsanmen) Formation is the junction of the Songshan Polarized World and the Goss positive Pole. The line between Pliocene and Pleistocene can be assumed to coincide with this contact, at 2.48 million years. The lower limit of the Quaternary is not necessarily the lower limit of the loess. According to the information so far, the loess begins later than that of the Quaternary.
