不少来自欧美等国家的交通专家在考察了中国一些大城市的道路系统与交通状况后,都普遍认为这些城市的道路系统与西方相比毫不逊色,甚至许多新建的主干道优于它们。专家们并指出:“中国大部分城市的现有道路空间并没有得到充分利用。通过挖潜,通行能力可以提高30~50%”。这很值得我们思考,所谓“旁观者清”,而我们自己则可能不清。尽管18年来我国城市道路建设成绩辉煌,人均道路面积由1979年3.1平米至1996年提高到7.6平米,增长了约2.5倍;但在每每研讨城市交通紧张问题时都要首先把“道路不足”作为主要原因之一,其依据是与欧美等西方国家的人均道路面积指标相比。
Many traffic experts from countries like Europe and the United States have generally considered the road systems of these cities as good as the West after examining the road systems and traffic conditions in some major cities in China. Even many new main roads are superior to them.
