据报道,非洲东部三千英里长的海岸沿线的海洋生物正受到工业排泄的废物和在海上冲洗油舱的油船的危害。联合国粮农组织和环境规划署说油类污染是由开往欧州或者远东经常路过莫桑比克海峡或者印度洋的油轮造成的。
It is reported that marine life along the 3,000-mile long coast in eastern Africa is being endangered by industrial wastes and oil tankers that wash oil tanks at sea. FAO and UNEP say oil pollution is caused by oil tankers that regularly pass through the Mozambique Channel or the Indian Ocean to Europe or the Far East.
