烯烃氧氯化反应是石油化学中重要反应之一。就乙烯氧氯化反应而言,显有催化活性的金属氯化物有AuCl_3、PtCl_4、RuCl_2、PdCl_2、CuCl_2、FeCl_3、AgCl、MnCl_2、NiCl_2、CrCl_3等。载体亦有Al_2O_3、SiO_2、活性炭等。Allen概括了有关氧氯化催化剂的主剂成份和常用载体,大体如上述。小南直也等试图建立催化活性与键参数(金属氯化物的生成热)之间的联系,并指出:
