太平天国革命究竟怎样推动中国社会向前发展,这是太平天国史研究中的重要课题。全面系统地论述这个问题,必须涉及政治、经济和文化思想各个领域。这里,我仅就太平天国革命根据地——长江中下游地区农村经济在革命时期和革命战争失败之后的变化,来说明太平天国革命是怎样推动中国社会向前发展的。在说明太平天国革命战争失败后长江中下游地区农村经济的变化时,必不可免地要碰到地主阶级对农民阶级进行反攻倒算的问题,地主阶级被迫对农民阶级进行让步的问题,以及农民阶级如何对待地主阶级这些措施的问题。这些都是史学界多年来争论不休的问题,我本来不想涉及,但又回避不了,就只好一并加以探讨。
How the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom Revolution can promote the development of Chinese society is an important issue in the study of Taiping Heavenly Kingdom history. A comprehensive and systematic discussion of this issue must cover all fields of political, economic and cultural thinking.
