I. Introduction GaAsAs / GaAs lasers as the light source, avalanche photodiode detector for the wavelength of 0.8 micron optical fiber communication, is now almost in practical stage. On the other hand, the research on light sources and detectors in the extremely low fiber loss and non-dispersion wavelength range (1.0-1.7 μm) is relatively new and one area where the research work has made continuous positive progress in recent years. As a light source, lasers having an InGaAsP / InP system oscillating at 1.3 μm and having a lifetime of more than 10,000 hours have been shown to have a bright future, but there are still many problems with the detectors that have not yet been obtained
