The fourth generation of Prius car engines followed the basic structure of the third generation car 2ZR-FXE engine, and adopted various improvements to improve fuel efficiency. The new engine, known as ESTEC 2ZR-FXE, uses a variety of fuel-efficient technologies to improve combustion characteristics, reduce deflagration, and optimize thermal management while reducing friction.
