党的十四大报告再一次强调社会主义的根本任务是发展生产力,所以,外交工作要从过去的单纯政治外交,转变到注意国际政治的同时,积极开展经济外交,要为改革开放和经济建设开路导航,穿针引线,铺路架桥,为提高国家的综合国力和人民生活水准做出贡献.我部每天所进行的外交工作都离不开档案,1992年我部共积累档案8449卷(件),利用档案者2377人次,共利用档案20万卷(件).我部档案工作为中央领导同志出访、国宾来访、对内对外的各种活动和部外有关单位进行了有益的服务,除收到良好的社会效益、政治效益外,有的也收到一定的经济效益.如1992年5月,中波轮船公司利用我部提供的档案材料,在与某国有关部门发生的诉讼案中取胜,为国家挽回经济损失25211新加坡元,折合人民币8.5万元.
