Objective To investigate the clinical effect of prophylaxis with low-dose estrogen in patients with recurrent urinary tract infection in postmenopausal women. Methods A total of 128 patients with recurrent urinary tract infection after menopause were divided into study group and control group according to the order of hospitalization, each with 64 cases. Patients in the control group were treated with antibiotics, while those in the study group were given low-dose estrogen prophylaxis. Comparative analysis of two groups of patients with clinical effects. Results The total effective rate of study group was 93.8%, significantly higher than that of control group (62.5%, P <0.05). At 6 months after treatment, the recurrence rate of study group was 1.6%, which was significantly lower than that of control group (31.3% P <0.05). Conclusions Patients with recurrent urinary tract infection in postmenopausal women with low dose of estrogen have better preventive and therapeutic effects and can reduce the recurrence rate, which deserves further study and promotion in clinic.
