From the “Envoys” in Strasse on the trip to Europe feel, we can spy on James to Europe’s sense of attachment. His early family life and experiences inflicted his repressive emotions, leaving him to live long in Europe and to take Europe as a shelter that can escape fledgling families. His faith in religion is actually a spiritual dependence and emotional release. The church gave him not the place to worship God but the place where he could hide his secrets and the place where he could bring relief to him.
