含有非真实条件从句的复合句,非真实条件通常用虚拟语气表示。在教学中,学生容易混淆假设情况和真实条件,往往误用谓语动词的形式。(假设与现在事实相反的情况)eg.1)He’s not speaking loud enough.(误)They can hear more clearly if I speak louder.(正)They could hear more clearly if I spoke louder.(假设与过去事实相反的情况)eg.2)He didn’t do it better because he hadn’t taken much time to think. In a compound sentence that contains a non-true conditional clause, non-true conditions are usually expressed in subjunctive mood. In teaching, students tend to confuse hypothetical situations and real conditions, often misusing predicative verb forms. (Assuming the opposite of current facts) eg.1) He’s not speaking loud enough. (False) They can hear more clearly if I speak louder. (正) They could hear more clearly if I spoke louder. In the opposite case) eg.2)He didn’t do it better because he hadn’t taken much time to think.
