1 Introduction Promethazine is a histamine H1 receptor antagonist with a chiral center in its molecular structure, ie the presence of enantiomers. Beta-cyclodextrin (β-CD) forms an envelope with most drug molecules, increasing the water-solubility and prolongation of the drug’s molecule. In this paper, the UV spectra of promethazine and β-CD were studied. The maximal absorption of promethazine and promethazine-β-CD envelop was compared.
