Graves’ disease (GD) is an autoimmune disease characterized by thyroid gland lymphocyte infiltration and TSH receptor stimulated antibody production. Antithyroid drugs, surgery and radioactive iodine are three commonly used therapies, but none of them are ideal and medical treatments have the advantage of being easy to control. Ultimately, remission can still keep thyroid intact and without hypothyroidism. Although the drug can lead to the ultimate remission, but the greater the risk of relapse, most of the recurrence rate reported as 50% to 70%. The authors conducted the following tests to understand the various pre-treatment factors associated with the long-term anti-thyroid drug treatment relapse.
