Since the first report of adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH) and cortisone in rheumatoid arthritis by Hench et al. In 1949, corticosteroids have been used in a wide range of clinical settings. Our department in 1955 the first trial of severe typhoid patients, so that it was rescued from the brink of death came back to us a lot of touch. After more than 20 years of continuous application and observation, we found that although corticosteroids can rescue critical patients, long-term and inappropriate use can cause fatal adverse reactions. Therefore, it is necessary to grasp the indications for clinical application and to analyze the patients’ Specific circumstances, weighing the pros and cons and decided to choose.
