所谓“七下”,是指足下、膝下、阁下、节下、麾下、殿下和陛下。旧时人们书信往来或讲话的开头,为了向对方表示谦恭,根据各自的职位、身份、辈次的差异分别采用这些称呼。足下,辈次职位差不多的人或朋友之间的称呼。唐代大诗人自居易在他写给元稹的一封重要诗歌论文书信《与元九书》里开头称“微之足下”,全信三千多字,竟用了22个“足下”。东汉蔡邕在《独断》中说,群臣士庶相与言曰“足下”,皆谦类。此称始于春秋时代的晋文公。据《东方朔琐语》记载,介之推跟随晋公子重尔流亡各国十九年,重耳返国为君,号文公。由于未能及时给介之推加官赐禄,
