A recently signed power purchase agreement opens the way for Iceland’s largest industrial project. In order to attract a very energy-intensive aluminum plant, the Icelandic National Electric Power Company plans to invest 1 billion U.S. dollars to build a large hydropower hub, which will inundate a nearly 60-km to 2 Arctic highland wilderness.
