旅顺船坞工程,自1880年至1890年,历经十年的艰苦创建,终于全部竣工。之后,北洋大臣李鸿章遴派直隶候补龚照玙赴旅顺,会同原会办道员刘含芳选派了一批委员、提调、司事,招募了数百名匠役人员组成旅顺船坞局。旅顺船坞经过多方面的努力逐具规模,已具备生产能力。进入旅顺船坞修理的第一艘舰,是中国福建马尾船厂制造的第一艘钢甲舰——“平远”号。随后北洋海军外购的“济远”、“镇远”等舰都进入船坞修理或改装。至此,旅顺船坞已成为中国最完善的海军修船厂,堪称“东方第一大坞”。
Lushun Dock Project, from 1880 to 1890, after a decade of hard work, and finally completed. Later, Li Hongzhang, Northern Minister, sent Li Chih-cheng, a candidate of Chihli, to go to Lushun. Along with Liu Han-fang, Liu Binfang, the original planner, sent a number of commissioners to lift and transfer officers and recruited hundreds of craftsmen to form the Lushun Dockyard. Lushun Dock through various efforts to scale, have the production capacity. The first ship to enter the dock repair Lushun, China Fujian Mawei Shipyard’s first steel-framed ship - “Pingyuan ” number. Subsequently purchased by the Northern navy “Ji Yuan ”, “Zhenyuan ” and other ships have entered the dock for repair or modification. At this point, Lushun Dock has become China’s most complete naval shipyard, called “the first Eastern dock”.
