An arbitrary waveform optical pulse generator based on dual-array fiber Bragg grating with independent phase modulation is proposed. The generator includes two parts: amplitude controller and phase controller. The adjustable element in the amplitude and phase controllers is a fiber Bragg grating array. Fiber Bragg Grating Arrays consist of fiber Bragg gratings and fiber stretchers spaced apart. By adjusting only the fiber stretcher in the structure, the amplitude and phase of each spectral line of the output signal can be controlled to produce an optical pulse of arbitrary waveform. The adjustment of the optical fiber stretcher in the phase controller does not affect the control of the amplitude of each spectral line of the output signal by this structure. The adjustment of the optical fiber stretcher in the amplitude controller affects the phase of each spectral line of the output signal, The adjustment of the controller takes precedence over the phase controller.
