By discussing the complementary relationship between the theory of association and the theory of adaptation, this paper illustrates the comparative analysis of two English versions of A Dream of Red Mansions In the effective guiding role, and then reveal the great role of this theory in literary translation. “Dream of Red Mansions” is recognized as the pinnacle of Chinese classical novels, its use of cultural words is particularly good. The frequent occurrence of cultural terms in A Dream of Red Mansions has unique characteristics of language arts and stylistic features.
