当我国的学院版画以学院派的挑战者的姿态走出传统之时,便开始了与风情版画、商业版画乃至画院版画的疏离。当下,随着中青年教师成为其创作与教学主体,以及其独立的文化身份及艺术品格的渐趋确立,将其作为一种相对独立的艺术现象进行观察、研究,不仅成为可能,而且由于其代表版画潮流的趋向性;以及作为版画专门人才培养与输出的基地,这种专题性探讨便更具现实意义。学院版画虽从创作主体与成果品质两方面看,均具有复杂性、多重性,但就整体而言,在中国的版画结构中具有独特的取向,即注重学术性、探索性、及艺术语言的纯粹性。尤其一些青年教师关注艺术本体,勇于探索与试验,追求学术目标,热衷于观念的表现,倾心于语言的个性化,崇尚个人的特殊感觉与独特的心理体验,而使其创作显现出超前的先锋特征。与画院版画不同的是,学院版画不像画院版画那样注重社会效益,关注现实生活,也不像商业版画那样以追求经济效益为宗旨、注重大众性、普及性、观赏性。因此学院版画往往不为大众所理解与接受,成为一种更具纯粹性的精英艺术。本期刊发的一组文章从创作与教学两个视角对当下学院版画进行透析。黄丹麾在与传统学院版画的比照中指出当下学院版画的三种趋势,尚辉集中分析学院版画在消解地域特征、反叛风情图式、融入城
