通过分析柴达木盆地茫崖拗陷、塔里木盆地轮南油田、准噶尔盆地克拉玛依油田以及吐鲁番盆地油田的原油和油源岩非烃馏分的苯并噻唑类化合物分布特征, 发现不同形成环境的原油中苯并噻唑化合物的分布有着显著差异. 湖沼相形成的原油具有高含量的苯并噻唑、较高含量的烷硫基苯并噻唑和2(3H)-苯并噻唑酮、2,2′-二硫基联苯并噻唑含量较低的特征; 微咸水-咸水湖相形成的原油, 苯并噻唑和2, 2′-二硫醇联苯并噻唑的丰度都比较高, 而烷硫基苯并噻唑和2(3H)-苯并噻唑酮含量较低. 苯并噻唑类化合物属弱碱-弱酸性化合物, 其稳定存在的条件与其所处的环境介质因素有关. 碱性环境利于氮碱类稳定存在, 而酸性环境中则以弱酸性的含氮化合物为主要稳定产物.
