有的经济学家认为一个国家的人均口腔医生比例应该是衡量该国家经济实力指标之一。瑞士是一个非常富有的国家,在城市口腔医生的人均占有率高达1/900,农村最低也有1/5000,全瑞士平均约为1/2500。大量病人的治疗主要依靠私人诊所来完成,病人一般有着固定的私人口腔医生,相当的病人养成定时口腔检查的习惯。作为州立医院和大学口腔医院主要接受私人诊所的转诊病人及部份门诊病人为学生实习及毕业考试用。正如其具有坚实的口腔疾病治疗力量一样,瑞士也具有了从口腔医生、口腔医生助手、口腔清洁员和口腔
