通过对三峡地区志留纪纱帽组的系统研究 ,在不同层位上 ,划分出了砂质、灰质、钙屑、含磷质等 4种类型风暴岩。经过其结构特征、沉积序列、沉积相等分析 ,认为砂质风暴岩和含磷质风暴岩隶属近源风暴岩 ,灰质风暴岩隶属远源风暴岩 ,钙屑风暴岩则属于上述两者间的过渡类型。研究区内 4种类型的风暴岩在横向上分布广 ,纵向上风暴作用持续时间短 ,沉积速率大 ,并且结构特征明显 ,便于追索和对比 ,可作为等时性标志层进行地层对比
