美国女作家项美丽(EMILY HAHN)于2月18日逝世之讯传出时,我曾写了一篇短文纪念。我于少年时读了她的《中国与我》的译本后,一直对她的写作与豪放性格神往,何况她是在30年代上海国际圈中的著名美人。她的一生充满传奇性事迹。近来我又读了多篇美国文学界悼念她的文章,很觉得有把她的生平更详尽介绍的必要。项美丽享年九十二岁,她的谢世表明一个时代的结束,新世纪中将再不会有项美丽如此的女作家。她于
When EMILY HAHN, the American woman writer, came out of the death on February 18, I wrote an essay to commemorate this. After reading her translation of “China and I” as a teenager, I was always fascinated by her writing and boldness, not to mention she was a famous beauty in the 1930s Shanghai international circle. Her life is full of legendary deeds. Recently I read a number of American literary circles who paid tribute to her articles and found it necessary to give a more detailed introduction of her life. She is a beautiful woman at the age of ninety-two. Her blessing shows the end of an era where there will never be a beautiful woman writer again. She is here
