In this study,a novel adsorbent was prepared by immobilizing bayberry tannin onto commercial alumina oxide.Then,the obtained bayberry tannin-immobilized alumina oxide (BT-Al2O3) adsorbent was well characterized.The porous structure of BT-A12O3 was measured by surface area and porosity analyzer.The chemical composition of BT-Al2O3 was analyzed by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy.The crystal information of BT-Al2O3 was determined by XRD.Subsequently,BT-A12O3 was used for the adsorptive removal of Cr(Ⅲ) from aqueous solution.It was found that pH has a pronounced influence on the adsorption of Cr(Ⅲ) on BT-AhO3.When the initial concentration of Cr(Ⅲ) was 52.0 mg/g,the adsorption capacity of Cr(Ⅲ) was 0.71 mg/g at pH 2.5 and 303 K,while it sharply increased to 14.99 mg/g when the pH reached 5.5.In addition,BT-Al2O3 exhibited a fast adsorption rate to Cr(Ⅲ).The adsorption equilibrium of Cr(Ⅲ) on BT-Al2O3 could be reached within 2.0 h.Isotherm studies suggested that the equilibrium adsorption capacity of Cr(Ⅲ) on BT-Al2O3was 35.53 mg/g at 303K,and the increase of temperature had no signification influence on the adsorption capacity.The presence of other metal ions did not affect the adsorption of Cr(Ⅲ) on BT-Al2O3.In conclusion,our experimental results suggested that BT-Al2O3 is a kind of high-efficient adsorbent for the removal of Cr(Ⅲ) from aqueous solution.
