  Ethyl trifluoroacetate (TFAE) is the ethyl ester of TFA.It is used as an important intermediate in the synthesis of pharmaceutical and agricultural chemicals.The chemical reactions usually involve nucleophilic substitution of the ester and which are useful for the preparation of trifluoroacylated compounds [1,2].In this study,esterification of trifluoroacetic acid(TFA) with ethanol was performed without catalysts compared to concentrated sulfuric acid and Amberlyst-15 resin as catalysts under mild conditions.The results showed that the concentrated sulfuric acid was more active than Amberlyst-15,and the equilibrium couldbe reached in 30 minutes.Because TFA was a strong acid,the equilibrium could be reached in 60 minutes without catalysts.The reaction kinetics was investigated without catalysts,and the kinetic constants for a pseudohomogeneous kinetic model were presented.The kinetics model showed that this reaction was limited by equilibrium.Batch reactive distillation was used for improving the yield,and it showed that 97% yield was obtained by the process of batch reactive distillation.
