Cutaneumcarcinoma is commonly responsible for significant morbidity and mortality and the treatments have not progressed significantly in the last few years.Alternative strategies such as chemoprevention are being considered. Here we investigated the chemomodulatory potential of lycopene against 9, 10-dimethylbenz[a]anthracene (DMBA)/12-O-tetradecanoylphorbol-13-acetate (TPA)-inducedskin carcinogenesis in female ICR mice and TPA-induced malignant transformation of JB6 P+ cell.In vivo, pretreatments with lycopene at different doses significantly delayed tumor formation and growth. These treatments also extraordinary reduced the tumor incidence and tumor volume.
