Light scattering properties of ferromagnetic nanoparticles(NPs)were combined with membrane fluorescence probe for unequivocal distinction between cell surface-bound and internalized particles.Effects of a protein corona on the cellular uptake of ferromagnetic NPs were evaluated by flow cytometer using side scatter light, result have shown that protein corona decrease the cell associated ferromagnetic particles and cell associated ferromagnetic particles decreased as time elapsed.Flow cytometer result was confirmed by optical microscope observations. As a conclusion, scattered light is a simple and easy method for visual unequivocal distinction between cell surface-bound and internalized particles when combine with membrane fluorescence.Furthermore scattered light is also a simple and easy method for semi-quantitative of cellular uptake of NPs.
