Although a steady decline of cancer-related death in the past decade and numerous advances in early diagnosisi and monitoring, advanced prostate cancer in castration-resistant stage is still a big challenge for the community.Patients with advanced prostate cancers at the late stage of castration resistant are not responding to conventional chemotherapy, reflecting a desperate need of novel treatment for this patient population.The novel compound Alternol was isolated from fermenting products by microorganism named as Altemaria altemata var.monosporus, which was obtained from the bark of yew tree in Kuming, China.
