Polyporus umbellatus (Syn.Grifola umbellata) is an edible and medicinal mushroom,belongs to the Polyporales of Basidiomyeota.This study was initiated to evaluate the anti-oxidant,anti-inflammatory and anti-xanthine oxidase activities of P.umbellatus sclerotia extracted with acetone,methanol and hot water.The antioxidant activities were performed on reducing power,1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl free radical scavenging,and ferrous chelating activities.
