Fe-25Mn-3Si-3Al TWIP steels were ex-situ tensile strained and observed by using TEM to investigate the initiation and propagation of crack.Both twins parallel and perpendicular to the crack are produced during the crack propagation.The twins perpendicular to the crack notably block and blunt the crack, while the parallel twins exhibit no effect to the propagation of crack.
