Adjectives are "significantly less studied than other major lexical categories such as nouns and verbs" (McNally and Kennedy,2008:1).The few limited studies have focused on semantic classification and morphological features (e.g.Yamazaki,2002 and Warren,1984).In this paper,we look at the etymological features of adjectives and report a corpus-based survey of the foreign origins of adjectives.
