Objective:To evaluate the feasibility and outcomes of laparoscopic radical trachelectomy in patients with early-stage cervical carcinoma who want to preserve fertility. Methods:A prospective study of laparoscopic radical trachelectomy procedure is analyzed.Data regarding operation time, blood loss, intra and post-operative complications, recurrences and pregnancies are recorded and presented. Results:Twelve patients were enrolled from December 2005 to January 2011.The mean operative time was 232min,and the average blood loss was 120ml,and the average hospital stay was 8 days.No intra-operative complication occurred;five patients had post-operative complications. The median followup time was 47 months, and no recurrence was observed.Four pregnancies were observed during the follow-up time. Conclusion:Our prospective study and literatures demonstrate that laparoscopic radical trachelectomy is a feasible procedure for patients with early-stage cervical carcinoma who want to preserve fertility. However, the pregnant outcomes after the procedure need to improve.
