  The antidiabetic effect of the submerged mycelia of cultures of several higher basidiomycetes in streptozotocin -induced diabetic rats was investigated.The food intake of the diabetic control rats was increased,whereas body weight gain was reduced as compared to the nondiabetic animals.The plasma glucose level in the mycelia-fed rats was significantly reduced in comparison to the diabetic rats.
