Ghrelin is the only endogenous ligand of growth hormone secretagogue receptors mainly secreted from the stomach. To explore the effect of ghrelin on blood glucose change under the condition of acute cold stress, eight Small Tail Han lambs(11.8 ± 1.04 kg)one week after weaning at 45 days were randomly divided into two groups,namely,ghrelin(10 μg/Kg.BW)group and BSA+saline(0.1%BSA saline as a placebo)group. After 24 hours fasting, exogenous ghrelin and BSA saline were administrated to two group animals separately, and then the animals were exposed to the cold environment for 1 h.Basic vital signs and plasma glucose were assayed at 10 minute interval.
