Objective: The aim of this study was to study the coronal shape of the cervical inferior endplates and provide a novel morphological classification system.The anatomical data was also collected for the improvement of the design of the cervical artificial disc footprints.Methods: After the cervical spine was reconstructed from the CT data, the position of each vertebral body was adjusted for the classification and measurement.Three coronal planes were chosen.They were situated at the anterior quarter, the middle and the posterior quarter of the endplate depth (ECD).
