According to the growing security problems of expressway projects,combined with the actual situations of Taoyuan County in the Sichuan Province (Sichuan-Shaanxi border) to Bazhong Expressway Project,the predictive values of running speed of all road sections are calculated by using the running speed prediction model.They are respectively used to evaluate the safety of stopping sight distance,the vertical curve,the entrance and exit of expressway tunnel,the ultrahigh of cross section,and the long steep downgrade and so on.At the same time,the potential traffic safety problems of the expressway have been identified and the corresponding improvement measures have been proposed,which enhance the safety of running road.With adoption of new ideas and methods,it can be a reference case of safety evaluation ofexpre ssway traffic in the future and have a positive impact on promoting the enhancement of the level of highway traffic safety.
