Complement activation generates a set of effector molecules which have diverse biological functions.Among which iC3b interaction with its receptor CR3 has been shown to induce immune tolerance and suppress immune responses through acting on antigen presenting cells and monocytes.Natural killer (NK) cells express abundant CR3;however, what is the functional role for CR3 in NK cells and whether engagement of CR3 with its complement ligand affects NK cell function are largely unknown.The aim of this study was to address these questions.
