Objective: Sodium ferulate (SF) is sodium salt of ferulic acid which is one of the active ingredients in Radix Angelica Sinensis and Ligusticum chuanxiong hort.It has the effect of refraining endothelin production in myocardium.This research investigated whether sodium ferulate has protective effect on left ventricular hypertrophy of rats and its protective mechanisms.Methods: Left ventricular hypertrophy in rat was induced by abdominal aorta coarctation and sodium ferulate (20, 40 and 80 mg/kg/day) was given the day after surgery for 25 consecutive days.
