This paper introduces a new 3-D modeling method based on LS-DYNA to simulate the vehicle-bridge interaction, aiming at obtaining the actual dynamic bridge response (stress or strain) caused by the motion of vehicle. The finite element (FE) model of vehicle is established, including the mass distribution of vehicle, exquisite wheel model with elastic tires and suspension systems to ensure that the established FE model can produce the same motivated excitation as the actual vehicle. The bridge is modeled considering the prestressed reinforcements and accessory structural components, including wearing course. Moreover, given the vehicle model with different speed, the 3-D bridgevehicle coupling interaction model is investigated considering the contact dynamic coefficient of friction resistance between the wheels and bridge surface. The modeling method was verified by a field test on the approach span of the Fifth HuaiHua Bridge, located in Huaihua City,Hunan Province,China.
